Two new facilities at Takeo Onsen Station, the first station on the West Kyushu Shinkansen Line, opening in September 2011.

With the opening of the West Kyushu Shinkansen Line (between Takeo Onsen Station and Nagasaki) on September 23, 2023, Takeo Onsen Station, the first station on the line, opened on September 23, 2023, and two new facilities, Takeo Travel Bookstore and Takeo Onsen Station Tourist Information Center, have been opened under management contract with the Takeo City Tourism Association.

The common concept of both facilities is "a place to encounter unknown attractions”.

We have been involved in the management of the Takeo City Library since 2013, and this facility delivers the charms of Takeo City and Western Kyushu spreading from Takeo Onsen Station, which we know only because we have walked with the people of Takeo City.

"Takeo Tabi Bookstore" with a collection of books on "travel"

Takeo Tabi Bookstore is a "book & cafe/bar" style bookstore that carries approximately 1,000 travel-related books, including books on regional characteristics and culture from all over Western Kyushu, as well as novels to accompany your travels.

The bookshelves surrounding the store have nine different themes, such as "Knowing Nishi-Kyushu," "Traveling," "Living," and "Town Planning," to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the charms of Nishi-Kyushu from a variety of perspectives.

At the café, visitors can enjoy "original blend coffee," "lemon green tea" made from Ureshino tea, a specialty of Saga Prefecture, and lemongrass, a specialty of Takeo City, "local sake" and "local beer" in Takeo-yaki and Arita-yaki ware. This vessel can be purchased at both facilities if you like.

With a baguette from a popular Takeo City bakery and an original sandwich made with prosciutto ham from a handmade ham specialty store, as well as sweets, you can relax while waiting for the bullet train or making travel plans.

Furthermore, in addition to books, the company offers a wide range of products that can only be purchased in Nishi Kyushu.

It is a "select store" filled with the charms of each region of Western Kyushu, featuring special products ranging from alcoholic beverages and foodstuffs to pottery and sundries.

It also serves as a community where residents and tourists can interact without separation.

"Takeo Tabi Bookstore" proposes a place where visitors can learn about, see, touch, and experience the "people," "things," "things," "culture," and "history" of Takeo and Western Kyushu, and holds events that both residents and tourists can freely participate in. Not only can visitors experience the culture through the event, but also through the interaction between residents and tourists, each of whom will be exposed to the charms of Western Kyushu from a new perspective.

Takeo Onsen Station Tourist Information Center" to convey the attractions of Takeo City more widely and deeply.

The Takeo Onsen Station Tourist Information Center is located directly in front of the station as you exit the ticket gate of the conventional train.

Passing through the curtain at the entrance, visitors will be greeted by an interior designed in the checkered pattern inherited from Takeo Onsen Tonoyu, a magnificent all-marble bath built in the mid-Edo period as an exclusive bath for the lord Takeo Nabeshima, and products are arranged using bath tubs and other materials, serving as a window to Takeo City, a hot spring resort town.

In addition to its functions as a tourist information center, such as bike rental and baggage storage, the "Takeo Onsen Station Tourist Information Center" sells Takeo City products and displays Takeo pottery works on a big table in the center of the adjacent conventional train waiting area, making it a gallery for both tourists and residents.

We will continue our efforts to create a base where people can feel more deeply the charm and culture of the region.
