Basic Accord Reached for Loyalty Program Tie-Up with Korea's SK Group

～Alliance with OK Cashbag, Korea's largest loyalty program in use by two out of three consumers～

November 8, 2010 (Tokyo, Japan) - Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Muneaki Masuda, "CCC"), headquartered in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, announced the execution of a basic accord with SK Marketing & Company Co., Ltd., (CEO: Bang-Hyung Lee, "SKM&C"), headquartered in Seoul, Korea, as a subsidiary of Korea's SK Group regarding a tie-up between loyalty programs.

1. Key Details of Basic Accord
The loyalty market in Japan is estimated to have attained a gross figure of 892 billion yen for loyalty points and miles issued in 2008, and of more than 1 trillion yen in 2009.1 In 2009 Korea's OK Cashbag built a loyalty market of annual gross issuance valued at about 300 billion won in Korea. Amidst these market backdrops, CCC and SKM&C will provide a service alignment for exchanging loyalty points between Japan's largest shared loyalty program T Point operated by CCC and used by 36.08 million people, 28.3% of the total population in Japan, and Korea's largest shared loyalty program OK Cashbag operated by SKM&C and used by 34 million people, 67.9% of the total population in the Republic of Korea. Looking ahead, both companies intend to study co-operative business in other areas.

2. Benefits of Loyalty Service Alignment
With the rise in popularity of Korean entertainment in Japan also being an influencing factor, the number of Japanese tourists to Korea increased to 3.05 million in 2009, a 28.4% increase compared to the previous year.2 With the recovery in the economic climate and the advertising effect of tourism to Japan in Korea, the number of Korean tourists to Japan has recorded a cumulative total of 1.84 million people between January and September 2010, a 60.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Sightseeing and travel interchange between Japan and Korea are on an expansion trend.2 Under the current basic accord, CCC will offer an environment where T Points can be accumulated indirectly across lifestyle scenes abroad, the first loyalty program in Japan to do so. CCC will further aim at the expansion of loyalty point distribution volume among both Japanese and Korean consumers who show keen interest in loyalty points and mileage.
Sharp to Collaborate with Culture Convenience Club on the Establishment of E-Entertainment Content Store "TSUTAYA GALAPAGOS" for the E-book Reader "GALAPAGOS"

Sharp Corporation (hereinafter "Sharp") and Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "CCC") announced today that they have signed a basic agreement to collaborate on content service business, including the establishment of a joint venture company for the E-store offering entertainment content. The two companies will start the E-store "TSUTAYA GALAPAGOS" (hereinafter "E-store") for the e-book reader "GALAPAGOS" from this December.

The E-store will start by providing e-book content, including newspapers, magazines and comic books, with the industry-leading book sales expertise of TSUTAYA bookstores franchised by CCC, and plans to expand the number of entertainment contents to video, audio and game software in the future. The E-store aims to provide the largest number of e-contents available in Japan.

Furthermore, the E-store will offer a multi-entertainment service integrating multiple contents, using Sharp's "GALAPAGOS" e-book readers and service platform technology. The user can enjoy two contents simultaneously. While reading the sports magazines, the related video content can be searched and viewed from the E-store. The E-store will offer E-store members "T-point service", and "T-login ID", both managed and operated by CCC.

The two companies plan to initiate the E-store service providing e-books (planned to start in December 2010), while expanding the content, to start the entertainment content service, including video and audio content, from next spring.
