The Disney movie "Frozen" was released in Japan on March 14th of this year, and even now, four months later, it continues to be a huge hit. Many people have probably heard the melody "Let it go~♪" on street corners and in stores. The DVD of "Frozen" will be released on July 16, 2014. With the DVD release just around the corner, we conducted a survey about the movie "Frozen" among 1,601 female T-members aged 18 to 79.
First, we asked whether or not people had seen "Frozen," and 20.9% (335 people) answered that they had seen it in the cinema. Additionally, over 60% of people did not see the film in theaters but "plan to see it in the future," and when combined with those who saw it in theaters, the total number of people who have seen "Frozen" or plan to see it in the future exceeds 80%. Of those who "plan to watch it in the future," 5.7% "plan to watch it in the cinema," 15.4% "plan to watch it by renting a DVD or Blu-ray," and 39.9% "plan to watch it if it is broadcast on TV."Next, the 335 people who answered "I saw it at the cinema" were asked to choose multiple reasons for wanting to see it. The top answer was "Because the songs sounded good" (53.1%), followed by "Because it was being talked about on TV and in magazines" (39.1%) and "Because the story seemed good" (31.9%). This shows that over 50% of people decided to go to the cinema to see a film because of the music.
