We would like to inform you that an email address leak incident has occurred at NADiff contemporary, the museum shop at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, which is contracted to Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to those who made reservations and all related parties.
Going forward, we will take even more thorough measures to manage information in order to prevent recurrence.
1. Overview of the accident
When sending information emails to customers who had reserved the exhibition catalog, we entered the email address in the To field, not the Bcc field.
(1) Time of occurrence: Around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10th
(2) Location: Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Museum Shop "NADiff contemporary"
(3) Leaked information: 106 email addresses of customers who reserved the exhibition catalogue
2. Background and response
(1) At around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, when a museum shop staff member sent an email to a customer who had reserved an exhibition catalog, the email address was entered in the recipient's address field instead of the BCC field.
(2) At around 4:54 p.m. on the same day, we received a reply from one customer informing us that the email had been sent in error.
(3) At around 5:15 p.m. on the same day, our staff noticed the reply to your inquiry and realized that it had been sent in error.
(4) At around 5:40 p.m. on the same day, we sent a BCC message to all recipients of the email to which we had mistakenly sent it, apologizing for the mistake and requesting that they delete the email.
(5) As of Wednesday, May 11, no specific damage has been confirmed.
3. Future measures
In our previous operations, we have thoroughly instilled awareness of proper information security management, but in light of this recent incident of erroneous transmission, we will once again strive to ensure the appropriate handling and management of personal information, etc., and to prevent recurrence. We will be especially careful to double-check emails sent to multiple people.
