(Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda) will add Japanese music—primarily folk, New Music, and pop—to the lineup of TSUTAYA’s private brand CD "The Best Value 999" and will release 53 compilation albums featuring famous songs by renowned artists on October 8, 2010.
This release features 53 compilation albums containing the greatest hits from renowned artists, including folk music giants such as Kaguyahime, Kaze, Minami Kosetsu, Inaba Akira, N.S.P, and Billy Banban, as well as leading figures in the New Music and pop scenes such as Sera Masanori & Twist, Yamashita Kumiko, Ann Lewis, Amin, and Yagami Junko.
Furthermore, the "The Best Value 999" series, which had previously consisted exclusively of Western artists, has sold a total of 350,000 copies since its release in December 2009, spanning 120 titles. "The Best Value 999" is popular among first-time TSUTAYA customers and is contributing to the expansion of our customer base. By expanding our lineup to include Japanese music, we believe we can now meet the needs of even more music fans.
