Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda) has announced that, following a proposal process involving over 70 architectural firms, the basic and detailed design for its ongoing "Daikanyama Project" will be carried out by a design joint venture between Klein Dytham Architects (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) and RIA (Minato-ku, Tokyo). Furthermore, Kajima Corporation has been selected to carry out the construction.

The Daikanyama Project is a project in which our company, in cooperation with NTT Urban Development Corporation, will create a town that proposes a new adult culture on a vast site along the Kyu-Yamate-dori Street in Daikanyama. Designed to resemble a "library in the forest," TSUTAYA will debut with a new store style that overturns conventional images.

The facility will include cafes and restaurants where people can enjoy meals and conversations, as well as several tenants that offer a variety of lifestyle and cultural experiences.
Our company founded TSUTAYA as a "lifestyle suggestion space" that provides information on new lifestyles for "young people." However, in this project, we will create a new communication space using cafes, bookstores, and rental shops as a new "lifestyle suggestion space" for "adults" who are building new cultures and styles.

[About Klein Dytham Architects]
Founded in 1991 by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, both graduates of the Royal College of Art and who previously worked at Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects. They handle a wide range of projects, from architecture, interiors, and product design to managing art events. Their representative works include "Risonare Kobuchizawa Leaf Chapel, Brillare" and "Selfridges Wonder Room / London."

The architecture and design philosophy of Klein Dytham Architects are featured in "11ARTS: Proposals from 11 Architects for the Daikanyama Project," a collection of proposals by leading Japanese architects that we published last year. This book is a collection of proposals from 11 architectural firms that advanced to the final selection stage of the basic design proposal process. The model photographs were taken by Nakasa & Partners, a leading firm in the field of architectural photography.
