TSUTAYA.com Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi), which operates online entertainment businesses such as video streaming and e-books within the CCC Group, will begin offering a video streaming service for Android devices starting today, October 19th, in addition to its existing video streaming service for TVs and Blu-ray recorders, for its high-definition video-on-demand (VOD) service "TSUTAYA TV," which offers Hollywood movies and other content.
The new service will initially launch for Fujitsu's "ARROWS Tab LTE" tablet, and will gradually expand to include smartphones and other tablet devices in the future.
With 6,400 titles available, it boasts one of the largest libraries of video streaming services for Android devices, and this number is continuously expanding, offering a lineup that includes new Hollywood releases.
Video streaming is available as a rental (download) with a set viewing period, and the content is stored on the built-in SSD or Micro SD card. New release movies are 400 yen, older movies are 300-350 yen, and TV series are 247 yen. Discounts are also available for package purchases. There are no registration fees, monthly fees, or annual fees whatsoever.
You can now enjoy video streaming on your tablet device, allowing you to watch at home and easily download and watch content while on the go. Furthermore, the "ARROWS Tab LTE" device, which will be providing this service, features front-facing stereo speakers and Dolby Mobile v3, allowing users to enjoy the surround sound effects of a state-of-the-art movie theater. It is also waterproof, so users can enjoy movies in the bath or kitchen.
TSUTAYA.com offers a variety of services, including e-books ("TSUTAYA.com eBOOKs") and video streaming ("TSUTAYA TV"), and will continue to expand its services to "deliver all kinds of entertainment content to anyone, anywhere, anytime via the internet in the most convenient way."
