—TSUTAYA's Hidden Gems" voting begins today on a special voting website—

Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda) is launching "TSUTAYA Hidden Gems," a program at TSUTAYA stores nationwide, and will be accepting requests for DVD releases of films that people want to see again but are currently unavailable in TSUTAYA stores due to being out of print or not being released on DVD. The program is called "Masterpiece Reissue Request" and will run from November 18, 2011 to January 31, 2012.

"TSUTAYA Hidden Gems" is a special sales area in stores that features films that are not well-known "famous works" or "films that are available in every store," but rather "interesting works known only to those in the know" or "films that you've wanted to see but couldn't easily find." These films are based on evaluations of 40,000 movie titles by "100 film enthusiasts" from both inside and outside TSUTAYA, using "interesting" as the criterion. In selecting our film catalog, we have been working with various DVD manufacturers and related parties through the "TSUTAYA Hidden Gems" project to revive and re-release films that are actually interesting but have been discontinued on VHS and disappeared from stores, or films that have not yet been released on DVD.

The "Masterpiece Reissue Request" is a service that responds to requests from users of "TSUTAYA Hidden Gems" via Twitter and other platforms, such as "We want you to bring back that movie," by allowing them to submit requests for "works they want to be reissued" on a special website (http://tsutaya.jp/fukkoku2/). Applications will be accepted from November 18, 2011 to January 31, 2012. Based on the requests we receive, we will work with "TSUTAYA Hidden Gems," various DVD manufacturers, and all relevant parties to create DVDs of the most requested titles.

While we will do our utmost to accommodate your requests, please understand that due to rights-related issues, not all requested works will necessarily be released on DVD.

In addition, a trial campaign conducted in March of this year received a total of 2,152 votes, and by November 2011, we had re-released a total of 12 titles, including "Foul Play," "The Five from Texas," "The Wild Geese," and "The Dead Zone," which are currently available for rental at the "TSUTAYA Hidden Gems" section in TSUTAYA stores nationwide.

This is an explanatory image for soliciting requests for the 'reissue' of discontinued or unreleased movie DVDs.

TSUTAYA will continue to develop various initiatives to provide everyone who enjoys movies with more opportunities to discover interesting films.
