TSUTAYA.com Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi), which operates the high-definition video-on-demand (VOD) service "TSUTAYA TV," will release version 1.5 of its next-generation user interface (hereinafter "new UI") on March 7, 2012 (Wed). This new UI makes it easier to search for titles and allows for more intuitive operation. At launch, compatible models will be limited to certain models such as Sony's BRAVIA series, but we plan to gradually expand the range of compatible models in the future.
With the new UI, the display area for all screens on "TSUTAYA TV" has been increased. Previously, the titles of the works were displayed as text on the work list screen, but with the new UI, the jacket images of the works are now displayed in a list of 21 titles per screen. Furthermore, selecting an image of an artwork now displays the artwork's title at the bottom of the screen, allowing for more intuitive operation.
Furthermore, after selecting a genre, you can now narrow down the search results by "New Arrivals" or "Kana," shortening the time it takes from searching for a title to purchasing it—a truly next-generation UI with high usability.
Furthermore, from March 7 (Wed) to May 31 (Thu), 2012, we will be running a point giveaway campaign for Sony BRAVIA TVs, which are now compatible with the "TSUTAYA TV" service. When you access "TSUTAYA TV" from a compatible device, the campaign application screen will be displayed. After registering and applying for the campaign, you will receive 1,000 campaign points that can be used on "TSUTAYA TV." Points are valid from March 7, 2012 (Wed) to June 30, 2012 (Sat), and can be used at a rate of 1 point = 1 yen. Please refer to the next page for information on compatible models.
TSUTAYA.com offers a variety of services, including the video streaming service "TSUTAYA TV" and the e-book service "TSUTAYA.com eBOOKs," and will continue to expand its services to "deliver all kinds of entertainment content to anyone, anywhere, anytime via the internet in the most convenient way."
