TSUTAYA TV, a high-definition video-on-demand (VOD) service operated by TSUTAYA.com Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi), has released its next-generation user interface, Ver. 1.5 (hereinafter referred to as the "new UI"), which makes it easier to search for programs and allows for intuitive operation, on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, compatible with all models of Sharp Corporation's AQUOS, with the exception of some models. It is also now possible to link directly to the "TSUTAYA TV" service from AQUOS's new internet service for televisions, "AQUOS City."

The new UI has increased the display area on all TSUTAYA TV screens. Previously, the titles of the works were displayed in text format on the work list screen, but with the new UI, jacket images of the works are displayed in a list of 21 titles on one screen. In addition, when you select an image of a work, the title of the work will be displayed at the bottom of the screen, making operation more intuitive.
Furthermore, after selecting each genre, it is now possible to narrow down the corresponding works by "New Arrivals" or "Kana", shortening the process from searching for the work you want to watch to purchasing it, making this a truly highly usable next-generation UI.
TSUTAYA.com offers a variety of services, including the video streaming service "TSUTAYA TV" and the e-book service "TSUTAYA.com eBOOKs," and will continue to expand its services to "deliver all kinds of entertainment content to anyone, anytime, anywhere via the Internet in the most convenient way possible."
