We are pleased to announce that the number of rentals at our 1,475 stores nationwide, including "TSUTAYA" and "TSUTAYA BOOKS," reached a record high of 363.97 million rentals during the first six months of 2012 (January to June) (104.5% compared to the same period last year). A detailed analysis of DVD rental usage trends revealed a particularly strong increase in usage among those aged 60 and over, with both men and women in their 60s showing a 118% increase in rental frequency compared to the previous year.

The increase in usage by people aged 60 and over can be attributed to several factors, including the growing popularity of "TSUTAYA Hidden Gems," a program launched in the summer of two years ago that revives truly interesting films from the 1960s to the 1990s that were not available in stores, as well as the establishment of services that appeal to senior citizens, such as the "Mail Return Service" which allows customers to return rented items without visiting a store, and the "Request and Order Service."

On the other hand, when we look at the actual rental titles, we see that many of them are the latest releases, and among those in their 60s, men tend to prefer foreign films, while women tend to prefer Korean TV dramas. (We have also released a separate rental ranking today that includes all age groups.)
