TSUTAYA.com Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi), which operates the online video distribution service "TSUTAYA TV," is pleased to announce that it has decided to provide video distribution services to SoftBank SmartTV (hereinafter referred to as "Smart TV"), a service launched by SoftBank Mobile Corp. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masayoshi Son; hereinafter referred to as "SoftBank Mobile").

SmaTele is a service that allows you to enjoy various video content by plugging a dedicated stick directly into the HDMI port of your TV and operating it using a remote control app installed on your smartphone, all within your home Wi-Fi network.

You can enjoy approximately 39,000 titles, including new Hollywood movies and popular overseas dramas, currently available on "TSUTAYA TV" in HD quality.

This time, instead of using a dedicated TV remote control, we've created a completely new user interface that allows for smooth operation unlike any previous video streaming service, and lets you quickly find the title you want to watch from a wide selection of content, by using a remote control app on your smartphone.

The service is scheduled to launch in early December 2012, and applications can be made at SoftBank mobile phone retailers or through the dedicated website. Please enjoy "TSUTAYA TV" on SmaTele.

~How to watch "TSUTAYA TV" available on SmaTele~ 
① Connect the dedicated stick to the HDMI port on your TV.
② When you launch the remote control app installed on your smartphone and operate it by touching the menu screen on your smartphone, the dedicated stick receives the operation information via Wi-Fi, and the menu screen on the TV moves in conjunction.
③ Select the video content you want to watch from the menu screen.
Video content is delivered to the dedicated stick via Wi-Fi and played back in streaming format.
