2012.10.16 Press Releases
Daiwa Corporation / T-POINT Japan Co., Ltd.

Daiwa Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture, President and CEO: Hiroaki Fujii, hereinafter "Daiwa"), which operates supermarkets in Kagoshima Prefecture, and T Point Japan Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Headquarters: Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda, hereinafter "TPJ"), which operates "T-POINT," Japan's largest common point service, have concluded a point program agreement and will begin offering T-POINT services at 22 Daiwa supermarkets, "Daiwa" and "Plasse Daiwa," starting next spring. This initiative marks the first time T-POINT services have been introduced in a supermarket in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Daiwa began as a general retailer in Kagoshima Prefecture in 1963, primarily selling clothing and food products, and currently operates 22 community-based supermarkets. Furthermore, in 1988, we joined the "TSUTAYA" franchise, and currently offer T-POINT at 12 "TSUTAYA" stores.

As of the end of July 2012, T-POINT, operated by TPJ, is used by 760,000 people, representing 44.9% of residents in Kagoshima Prefecture. Furthermore, since 2009, the Takamaki Country Club in Kagoshima Prefecture has hosted the "T-POINT Ladies Golf Tournament," a women's professional golf tour sanctioned by the Japan Ladies Professional Golf Association. In terms of the ratio of members to the population, Kagoshima Prefecture ranks third among the 47 prefectures.

By switching from its traditional point card to T-POINT, Daiwa will be able to offer a point service that can be used at any of its "Daiwa," "Plasse Daiwa," "TSUTAYA" stores, as well as any of the 705 T-POINT participating stores in Kagoshima Prefecture. This will help further stimulate usage among customers who currently use "Daiwa" and "Plasse Daiwa," and we also hope to attract new customer segments.

In Kagoshima Prefecture, where T-POINT is well-known and widely used, CCC expects to further expand its membership base by launching T-POINT services at supermarkets that are highly compatible with point cards. CCC will continue to provide community-based common point services.

Details regarding the T-POINT service at Daiwa will be announced closer to the service launch date.
