Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, will launch the "TSUTAYA Mobile Membership Card" service on November 1, 2012 (Thursday), which will allow customers to rent DVDs and CDs at TSUTAYA stores using their smartphones or mobile phones as their membership cards.
The "TSUTAYA Mobile Membership Card" is a service that allows you to use your mobile phone*1 compatible smartphone or mobile phone*2 as a membership card instead of your existing T-CARD. A valid T-CARD is required to use this service. If you register your membership card on the website (

) using your smartphone or mobile phone, you can use it as a "tap-to-use membership card" *3.
At self-checkout counters that accept the "TSUTAYA Mobile Membership Card," you can also use various coupon services provided by TSUTAYA online. Therefore, if you use electronic money*4, you can rent items, use coupons, and pay without needing your wallet.
The "TSUTAYA Mobile Membership Card" service will be launched at five stores that have introduced self-checkout registers: TSUTAYA Umeda Doyama (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture), TSUTAYA Abenobashi (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture), TSUTAYA Fukuoka Tenjin (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), TSUTAYA Tenjin Ekimae Fukuoka Building (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), and TSUTAYA Yutenji (Meguro Ward, Tokyo). The service will be gradually expanded nationwide, starting with stores that have introduced self-checkout registers.
