—For those who were unable to rent a DVD in-store, we will offer one free rental DVD of a recent or older title.—

Culture Convenience Club Group's TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which operates TSUTAYA stores in prefectures throughout Japan, will make "The Amazing Spider-Man" available for rental from November 21st as a TSUTAYA private brand (original) title* at TSUTAYA stores nationwide, as well as through "TSUTAYA DISCAS," a popular online DVD and CD rental service that can be used by people who do not have a TSUTAYA store nearby.

*This applies to rental DVDs and Blu-rays; DVDs and Blu-rays sold are not private label (proprietary) products.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" is a reboot of the popular Marvel series "Spider-Man," offering a new interpretation and serving as the first installment in this new Spider-Man series. The breathtaking action scenes are a highlight unique to this new series and have been highly praised, and we believe they will be enjoyable for people of all ages. Furthermore, the love story between the heroine played by Emma Stone, who is also gaining attention in Japan, and Spider-Man is a film we recommend to couples this season.
To allow as many people as possible to see "The Amazing Spider-Man," we have not only made it available for rental anywhere through stores and home delivery, but we have also prepared a record-breaking 200,000 DVDs and Blu-rays for both in-store and home delivery rentals—three times the usual amount for a film of similar scale. Furthermore, if all copies of "The Amazing Spider-Man" are currently rented out at the store, we will offer one copy of a recent or older title free of charge to customers who were unable to rent it. Going forward, TSUTAYA will continue to enhance its unique selection of films, including private label titles, and implement various initiatives and store layouts to make more movies known to and enjoyed by a wider audience.

【Story】
Peter Parker is a rather unremarkable high school student. He has a strong sense of justice, but he's not popular with girls. His parents mysteriously disappeared when he was young, and since then he has been raised by his aunt and uncle, Ben and May. One day, Peter visits Dr. Connors, who studies genes at Oscorp, in an attempt to find out what happened to his father, and gets bitten by a spider during an experiment. The next day, Peter's life changes dramatically.
He gains the power and speed to move freely like a spider, and a "spider sense" that allows him to detect danger with heightened senses. Peter uses his abilities to fight evil and becomes a superhero known as "Spider-Man."
