The interim results of the "TSUTAYA Movie Fan Awards 2012," which selects the most moving and entertaining films from this year's theatrical releases by movie fans, have been announced.

TSUTAYA Company, which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, has launched a special website (http://tsutaya.jp/fan/) for the "TSUTAYA Movie Fan Award," and is pleased to announce the interim results as of December 10th.

The TSUTAYA Movie Fan Awards select the films that movie fans found most "moving" or "interesting" from among the films released in Japan this year*, in both the "Japanese Films" and "Foreign Films" categories, based on votes from movie fans. Furthermore, this award is the only one within the Mainichi Film Awards that is decided by public vote.

As of the interim tally, the total number of votes is 9,816, with "The Avengers" in first place in the foreign film category and "Thermae Romae" in first place in the Japanese film category.
Voting can be done via PC, smartphone, or mobile phone on the special website. http://tsutaya.jp/fan/ Voting is open until the end of December 26th, and 100 people will be randomly selected from those who vote to win 1,000 T-POINT.

  ② Choose a work that particularly moved you, that you found interesting, or that you would like to praise.
Vote for up to 3 films each from the "Foreign Films" and "Japanese Films" categories. Voting for a single film is also acceptable.

■Eligibility: Anyone with access to the voting website is eligible to apply.
■Voting Categories: "Japanese Film Category" / "Foreign Film Category"
■Eligible works: Films that were screened in Japanese theaters for 14 days or more between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.
*The release dates for the featured works are from December 19, 2011 to December 18, 2012.
■Results Announcement: Late January 2013
