TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, has revamped its smartphone application "TSUTAYA Search," which has primarily offered search functions, and is releasing it today as the official app "TSUTAYA App" for iPhone and Android devices.

The "TSUTAYA App" will continue to evolve as an application that not only provides features to make using TSUTAYA stores more convenient and cost-effective, but also enriches your movie-watching, reading, and other lifestyles. To improve usability, we have completely redesigned the user interface in this renewal, building upon features such as the already released "Check Your Usage History" and "TSUTAYA AR (beta version)," which allows users to search for information about works using AR technology. Additionally, by linking with TSUTAYA's Facebook page, users can now easily access the latest entertainment information and more through the app.

Regarding the "TSUTAYA App," we plan to integrate it with the "TSUTAYA mobile membership card" service, which is currently available at seven stores, as an app that makes using TSUTAYA even more convenient. We are also considering integration with social media to allow users to enjoy movies, music, and reading more fully.

1. TSUTAYA inventory search function (DVDs, CDs, books, games)
You can easily check the in-store inventory and rental status of pre-registered stores, and you can also check inventory on a map by linking with Google Maps.

2. TSUTAYA "Usage History" Confirmation Function
In addition to TSUTAYA stores, you can check DVDs, CDs, books, and games that you have rented or purchased within the last six months through TSUTAYA Online Shopping or TSUTAYA DISCAS. It's useful for things like wanting to know the names of actors in a movie you watched recently, or forgetting which volume of a drama series you've rented.

3. New release information, ranking information, and favorites registration.
You can check the release schedules of new products available for rental or purchase at TSUTAYA, as well as the rankings of popular titles. Additionally, you can "add to favorites" any works that catch your interest as a way to make a note of them.

4. TSUTAYA AR function (beta version)
An augmented reality (AR) function has also been launched for some titles, allowing users to view information about the work and user reviews by holding their smartphone over the album cover.

5. Coupon function
You can access the coupons sent to TSUTAYA online users through the app.
