Press Releases
Yahoo Japan Corporation / Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd.
-On July 1, 2013, "Yahoo! Points" will become "T-POINT" and "T-ID" will become "Yahoo! JAPAN ID"-
Yahoo! JAPAN, which operates Yahoo! JAPAN, and Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (CCC), which operates T-POINT, entered into a strategic capital and business alliance in June 2012. Based on this strategic capital and business alliance, the two companies are working on various initiatives to build a shared points service that offers the highest customer value in Japan, leveraging the strengths of both companies, which have large bases both online and offline. We are now pleased to announce that we have officially decided to switch from "Yahoo! Points" to "T-POINT" and unify "T-ID" into "Yahoo! JAPAN ID" on July 1, 2013.
As a result, Yahoo! Points, which can be accumulated and used mainly in 16 Yahoo! JAPAN services such as Yahoo! Shopping, Yahoo! Travel, and Yahoo! Games, will be unified into T-POINT. Going forward, Yahoo! Points will be able to be accumulated and used not only online, but also at over 57,000 T-POINT affiliated stores across Japan, such as TSUTAYA and FamilyMart, creating Japan's largest unified points service that spans both the online and offline worlds.
Additionally, to help resolve the issue of customers finding it inconvenient to have multiple IDs, we will unify "T-ID" into "Yahoo! JAPAN ID," and from now on, customers will be able to use the T-POINT service online with just one "Yahoo! JAPAN ID."
To commemorate the unification of points and IDs, Yahoo! JAPAN will be running a campaign from June 4th in which one lucky person will win 1 million T-POINT. In addition, we plan to launch campaigns related to "T-POINT" from time to time in collaboration with TSUTAYA and other T-POINT partners to show our appreciation to our customers.
Furthermore, on April 26, 2013, Yahoo! JAPAN completed its investment of 15% in T Point Japan Co., Ltd., a new company established by CCC through a spin-off of its T-POINT Program management business, and dispatched its Representative Director, Manabu Miyasaka, to serve as an executive officer. CCC and Yahoo! JAPAN will aim to further develop the T-POINT Program management business, and will prioritize providing services that meet customer needs, working hard to operate a shared points service that combines both online and offline technologies to offer overwhelming advantages.
Details regarding the conversion of "Yahoo! Points" to "T-POINT" and the unification of "T-ID" to "Yahoo! JAPAN ID" are as follows:
■ Switch from "Yahoo! Points" to "T-POINT"
Yahoo! JAPAN will switch the "Yahoo! Points" awarded on 16 of its services, including "Yahoo! Shopping," "Yahoo! Travel," and "Yahoo! Games," as well as on Yahoo! JAPAN's affiliated sites, to "T-POINT" provided by T Point Japan.

Shopping, which is already available to customers who have linked their IDs, will be available until just before the transition to T-POINT.
