Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda, hereinafter referred to as CCC) is pleased to announce that today, July 11th, it has reached an agreement with Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture (Mayor: Kenjiro Kikuchi) to collaborate on the "Central City Development Project around JR Tagajo Station," which Tagajo City has positioned as a symbol of its recovery from the earthquake disaster, to develop "the Tohoku region's leading cultural exchange hub," where many citizens can gather, interact, and be proud of.
This collaboration is a public-private partnership (PPP) that leverages each party's strengths and effectively utilizes their respective resources. Regarding matters of collaboration, both parties will exchange opinions and implement matters that are mutually agreed upon.
The "Tohoku's leading cultural exchange hub" will be centered around a library, a representative facility of local culture, and will form a network with the historical heritage that is the identity of Tagajo City, as well as the "Music Hall" at the Tagajo City Cultural Center, which boasts one of the best musical performances in the country.
In collaboration with Tagajo City, CCC will open a "TSUTAYA BOOKS" in Tagajo City, which will have the same concept as the "Daikanyama TSUTAYA BOOKS" it operates in Daikanyama, Tokyo. As a planning company, CCC will also plan and propose the creation of a cultural exchange hub with a core concept of "a library unique to Tagajo that highlights the individuality of Tagajo," thereby realizing the following five values:
1. Public facilities where families can enjoy themselves all day long
2. Libraries that foster children's intellectual curiosity
3. A community space where people can connect with each other
4. A library with a restaurant and cafe
5. CCC will support all of this from the "architectural concept" stage onwards, creating a place that citizens can be proud of.
Towards the summer of 2015, we will work with the city to create "Tohoku's leading cultural exchange hub" that connects people.
