- Literary books take the top three spots, but business books on "speaking skills" are also popular -

We are pleased to announce the TSUTAYA Book and Paperback Rankings for the first half of 2013, which are based on the number of books sold between January 1st and June 30th, 2013, at 702 TSUTAYA and TSUTAYA BOOKS nationwide that are members of the TSUTAYA BOOK NETWORK and sell books and magazines.

The overall book ranking began with a countdown of new releases at our store, Daikanyama T-SITE, and the much-talked-about new book by Haruki Murakami, "Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage," took first place, followed by the two volumes of "The Man They Called Pirate" by Naoki Hyakuta, winner of the Booksellers' Award, in second and third place, with literary works dominating the rankings. Also, among the popular business books this year, those with the theme of "how to speak," such as "The Complete Guide to How to Speak Like a Capable Adult" and "How to Improve Your Small Talk Skills," ranked highly. On the other hand, the paperback rankings include many original works of popular works that have been made into movies or TV dramas from last year to this year.
