- A literary award for original novels that make hit movie producers want to adapt them into films -

The first Japan Entertainment Novel Awards, which began accepting submissions in August last year and is organized by three companies: Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., Nippon Broadcasting System, Inc., and Linda Publishers Co., Ltd. (listed in alphabetical order), closed the application period on February 28th, and after a rigorous screening process, one Grand Prize winner and two Excellence Prize winners were selected as follows.

This award is a new type of literary prize that aims to discover new writers who can create original novels for films that are moving and full of entertaining ideas and unexpected story developments. This time, submissions came from a wide range of age groups, from teenagers to people in their 80s, with a focus on those in their 40s, and included a wide range of entertaining works, including mystery, science fiction, romance, horror, and light novels, all of which were written with the intention of being adapted into films.A total of 281 works were submitted.

The selection process was led by film producer Yuji Ishida, who served as the chairman of the first judging committee, and involved selecting 43 works from 281 entries in the first round of selection. From these, a careful second round of selection was carried out to select 13 works. After a third round of selection of 13 works, five were selected for the final round. The titles and authors of the 13 works in the second selection round and the five works in the final selection round are listed on the Japan Entertainment Novel Award website.

After reviewing the five works, the final selection committee selected the Grand Prize winner and two Excellence Prize winners. The two Excellence Award winning works, along with the Grand Prize winning work, are scheduled to be published by Linda Publishers in September.
