We are pleased to announce that the number of rentals of the DVD and Blu-ray of the movie "Ted" at TSUTAYA stores nationwide, operated by the Entertainment Business Division of Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., exceeded one million on August 26, 2013, approximately one month after the movie began rental.

The film surpassed one million rentals in just one month, rivaling the pace of "Avatar," which began rental in April 2010, and making it the fastest film to reach one million rentals in the past three years.It also surpasses "There's Something About Mary" by a wide margin, making it the fastest foreign comedy film to reach one million rentals in history, and is expected to become the foreign comedy film with the highest number of rentals by the end of the year.
"Ted" is a light-hearted comedy for adults, full of extreme dirty jokes, depicting the protagonist, who grew up as best friends with a talking teddy bear after a miracle happened to him as a boy, and now finds himself struggling with his partner, who has turned into a full-fledged delinquent and perverted old man. Released in theaters in Japan in January 2013, it recorded the highest box office revenue of any film released in the first half of the year, and has been No. 1 in the rental rankings at TSUTAYA stores for five consecutive weeks. It is popular among a wide range of people, especially those in their late 20s, but also in their 30s and 40s, and the ratio of male to female users is almost evenly split.
