To commemorate the 30th anniversary of both TSUTAYA and Nintendo's Family Computer™ (Famicom) this year*1, Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd.'s Entertainment Business Division will begin selling Nintendo prepaid cards (original Nintendo prepaid cards with Famicom designs) with designs commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Famicom's birth and download cards for Super Mario Bros. 3 from September 19th.

The original Nintendo prepaid card with a Famicom design is a prepaid card that can be used to purchase paid downloadable software and other items on Nintendo network services such as the Nintendo eShop. Two types of cards are available: "Controller I" and "Controller II," both of which are 1,000 yen prepaid cards. The "Super Mario Bros. 3" download card allows you to download the Virtual Console version of "Super Mario Bros. 3," a game for the Famicom released in 1988. You can download the software by entering the listed "download code" into the Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo 3DS.

In addition, ahead of the launch of original Nintendo prepaid cards and other products, the number of TSUTAYA stores that accept POSA-type prepaid cards*2 will be expanded from the current 509 game software stores to approximately 1,032 stores nationwide starting September 6th. This will allow stores that did not previously sell video games to start selling downloadable versions of video games.

TSUTAYA offers lifestyle suggestions through movies, music, books, games and more, and in order to meet the diverse entertainment needs of its customers, it has positioned POSA prepaid cards as a new way to propose lifestyles, and will continue to expand the range of products and stores that carry them.

*1 TSUTAYA opened its first store, TSUTAYA BOOKS Hirakata, in Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture on March 24, 1983. The Family Computer was released on July 15, 1983.
*2 POSA type prepaid cards are a general term for prepaid cards that are activated when payment is confirmed at the POS register. They are popular as a payment method for downloading game software and other purposes without the need to register a credit card, and are popular as gifts or for use by children.
