T Point Japan Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "T Point Japan"), Yahoo! Japan Corporation (hereinafter "Yahoo! JAPAN"), Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. Entertainment Business Division (hereinafter "TSUTAYA"), architects Toyo Ito, Klein Dytham Architects, and Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture have launched a joint project called "Everyone's Playground Project."
This project is part of T Point Japan's support project for areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, which has been running since 2011: "Present your T-CARD to bring smiles to the faces of children in the affected areas."The goal is to pool the strength of each member to expand the circle of support and work together to promote the project to build an indoor playground for children in Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture, which is being carried out as part of the "Rebuilding a Children's Home."
The project members will make the most of their various platforms, knowledge, and technical capabilities to support the construction of an indoor playground where children can play safely and which can be used continuously as a community space by families who bring their children.
Specifically, T Point Japan will take the lead in promoting this project, leveraging the experience it has gained through its support projects for areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. At the same time, it will collect donations through "T-POINT Donations" from the 46.44 million T Members who use their T-CARDs daily at over 60,000 T-POINT Alliance stores across Japan, and will also launch various charity projects, including a "Charity Product Exchange Campaign," to contribute to construction costs. In addition, T Point Japan, together with Yahoo! JAPAN, has developed a matching donation product for this project called "TOHOKU Everyone's Goods." These original accessories, each carefully crafted using sashiko fabric woven in Fukushima, will be sold at TSUTAYA, Family Mart, and the Reconstruction Department Store. *For more information about "TOHOKU Everyone's GOODS," please see the attached press release.
Yahoo! JAPAN will collect donations for construction costs using "Everyone's Charity Donations" and "Yahoo! Online Donations," which allow people to easily donate by purchasing eligible products on Yahoo! Auctions and Yahoo! Shopping, as well as the "Support Gift Delivery" program, which will send necessary goods to the disaster-stricken areas, and will recruit volunteer staff to build the playground through "Yahoo! Volunteers."
TSUTAYA is implementing the "TSUTAYA Smile Charity" initiative, which aims to connect the many smiles created through entertainment such as movies and music to the smiles of children in disaster-stricken areas. TSUTAYA will donate the same amount of T-POINTs that customers who participate in the project earn when they rent or purchase at TSUTAYA stores to the "Everyone's Playground Project."
Toyo Ito and Klein Dytham architecture will use their professional skills as architects to create a safe space where children and parents can gather casually to play and talk, and to help create a rich and warm local community.
In the future, T-POINT Alliance companies that support this project will gradually join.
