- The world of "Pokémon Red and Green" is animated for the first time -

Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, is pleased to announce that the Entertainment Business Division will be renting "Pokémon The Origin," an original anime set in the world of "Pokémon Red and Green," at TSUTAYA stores nationwide from December 4, 2013. This DVD is available for rental exclusively at TSUTAYA and the home delivery DVD and CD rental service TSUTAYA DISCAS. (Blu-ray and DVD will be available at DVD shops nationwide, including TSUTAYA. )

"Pokémon The Origin" is an original anime set in the world of "Pokémon Red and Green," the Game Boy software that was released 17 years ago and is the origin of the "Pokémon" series. The timeless charm of Pokémon, such as the powerful battles between Pokémon and the lively expressions of the Pokémon and characters, is depicted through vivid animation. This is a work that can be enjoyed by all Pokemon fans, not only those who enjoy Pokemon now, but also adults who were once passionate about Pokemon.

The animation is a joint production between three of Japan's leading animation production companies: Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell ARISE), XEBEC (Space Battleship Yamato 2119), and OLM (Pokémon series), making it a must-see for all anime fans.

This will be the first attempt to animate the story of Pokémon Red and Green.
"Pokémon The Origin" depicts the timeless charm of Pokémon through vivid animation, such as the powerful battles between Pokémon and the lively expressions of the Pokémon and characters.
It is a content that can be enjoyed by all Pokémon fans, not only children but also adults who used to play Pokémon enthusiastically.
The Kanto region is the setting for the adventure.
The young boy Red's adventure begins when he receives his first partner Pokémon, Charmander, from Professor Oak, an authority on Pokémon research.
Red is entrusted by the professor with completing the Pokédex, and together with his partner Charmander, he will engage in various encounters and battles.
Battle with your rival Green and challenge Gym Leader Takeshi.
A showdown with Team Rocket, an evil organization trying to take over Pokémon Tower.
Then there's a fierce battle with Giovanni, the boss of Team Rocket, and an encounter with an unknown Pokemon awaiting them.
What's more, there are some rare scenes that only appear in this animation.
The nostalgic adventures of "Pokémon Red and Green" are now brought to life in vivid animation.
