Fifty years ago, Ayumu Ohashi made his debut as an artist who drew cool men on the cover of the inaugural issue of the men's magazine Heibon Punch, and became a sensation. He continued to bring new ideas to the world, such as founding the quarterly magazine Arne, which can be said to have sparked the boom in lifestyle magazines.
Since its opening in 2011, DAIKANYAMA TSUTAYA BOOKS has been hosting a series of lifestyle-related events and fairs, primarily targeting the prime age group of people aged 50 and over. The store's lounge, "Anjin," has back issues of lifestyle magazines available for viewing, and in particular, every issue of "Heibon Punch" has been collected, dating back to the first issue, and is displayed at "Anjin" as a magazine that represents the era and is one of the most iconic.

■“Illustrator Ayumu Ohashi Exhibition: From Work to Life” Overview
To go into more detail, 50 years ago, Ayumu Ohashi made his debut as the artist who drew cool men on the cover of the first issue of the men's magazine Heibon Punch, and became a sensation.
After that, he began drawing fashionable and cute women, and while working in advertisements and magazines, he also worked on creating clothes and goods, gaining support from women.
At the same time, she has also written essays, frankly writing about the conflicting feelings of women in love, the worries of working women, the difficulties of working women raising children, daily life, cooking, and family, and has published well over 100 books.
In 2002, at the age of 62, he launched the quarterly magazine "Arne," which can be said to have sparked the current boom in lifestyle magazines. This was a personal magazine that I did all the planning, editing, interviewing, photography and publishing by myself. The people chosen by Ohashi, who values daily life, were introduced to delicious food and useful tools.
He also created illustrations for Haruki Murakami's essay "Murakami Radio," which was serialized in the women's weekly magazine "AnAn" around the same time, as well as stylish and humorous copperplate engravings.
Ayumu Ohashi has always been fresh, stylish, and cool, both in the past and now, and he is now 73 years old. The entire museum will introduce the journey of Ayumu Ohashi.
