Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter referred to as CCC), which operates 1,460 TSUTAYA stores nationwide, will hold the grand opening of MORIOKA TSUTAYA (planned and operated by Morioka TSUTAYA BOOKS Co., Ltd.), a large bookstore complex, as the flagship store of TSUTAYA, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, at 9:00 a.m. on December 5th.

"MORIOKA TSUTAYA" is the largest flagship store in Japan, offering a wide range of lifestyle suggestions, including books, magazines, movies, music, games, stationery, miscellaneous goods, toys, and mobile phones, all of which are handled by TSUTAYA, and is the first store of its kind in the country. Furthermore, we have set up a "Bornelund" specialty shop that goes beyond the traditional TSUTAYA framework and sells educational toys, a preschool called "Copel," and a community room that can be used by local residents for workshops and classes, and are pursuing new possibilities for TSUTAYA as a "place" for everyone and a base for the local community.

The biggest feature is the BOOK&CAFE, which is centered around "Culfe," a specialty coffee cafe that TSUTAYA will open for the first time in the country. BOOK&CAFE is a combined bookstore and cafe, where the entire store is both a cafe and a bookstore. You can choose a book from the bookshelf with a cup of coffee in hand, or you can sit at the cafe tables and read books and magazines before purchasing them. The store has the largest selection of books and magazines in the Tohoku region, with 700,000 volumes, and in addition to reading materials and comics, it also carries a wide selection of specialist books on education, nursing, science and technology, and has incorporated the know-how of the new TSUTAYA BOOKS to create a comfortable space for selecting books, including six small rooms where customers can choose books in a study-like atmosphere.

As a flagship store, we offer a large stationery section stocking everything from high-end stationery to everyday items, as well as one of the prefecture's largest selections of DVD rentals, including 100,000 DVDs, CD rentals, and video games. MORIOKA TSUTAYA aims to be a place where everyone, from the "Premier Age" centered around the baby boomer generation to the parent and child generations, can spend the whole day discovering their lifestyle.
