- Eight Japanese films ranked in the top 10, the highest number ever -

The Entertainment Business Division of Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, will independently compile and analyze the results and announce them in each category as the TSUTAYA annual rankings.

"Ted," which ranked first overall in the annual DVD and Blu-ray rental rankings, is enjoyed by people of all ages, both men and women, and has become an extremely popular film in recent years, surpassing "Avatar," with cumulative rentals exceeding 1.8 million in just five months. Another trend in this year's rankings is the popularity of Japanese films, with eight films ranking in the top 10, the highest number ever, including Wolf Children, which came in third overall and topped the anime rankings. (The previous best was four films in 2010 and 2011.)Also, in the anime rankings, "My Neighbor Totoro," directed by Hayao Miyazaki, who announced his retirement this year, ranked 13th, its highest position in recent years.
