The Entertainment Business Division of Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd., which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, accepted votes from November 13th to December 26th, 2013, from movie fans for the "TSUTAYA Movie Fan Awards 2013" that they found most moving and entertaining among films released in 2013. The final results have been tallied and the winners have been decided.

Out of 22,094 valid votes, "The Wind Rises" received 1,030 votes in the Japanese film category, and "Ted" received 737 votes in the foreign film category, and were selected as winners of the TSUTAYA Movie Fan Awards 2013.

Looking at the breakdown of votes, "The Wind Rises," selected in the Japanese film category, received strong support from men, with a lead of more than twice that of second-place films such as "Like Father, Like Son" and "Kiyosu Conference" among men in their teens to fifties. It also received votes from a wide range of women, including those in their 20s and 30s, who voted for "Girl in the Sunny Place."In the foreign film category, with films such as "Ted," "Les Miserables," "Iron Man 3," and "Pacific Rim" competing at the top, "Ted" came in first place among women in their 20s to 40s and men in their 20s and 40s, and also received consistent votes across all age groups, taking first place.

The two winning works will be presented at the 68th Mainichi Film Awards Awards Ceremony to be held at the Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall (Sawaku-ku, Kawasaki) on February 13, 2014. In addition, starting tomorrow, the 22nd, TSUTAYA will be accepting applications to watch the award ceremony on its official Facebook page.
