Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda, hereinafter referred to as CCC) and Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture (Mayor: Kimura Kenichiro) are collaborating to realize the "Basic Concept for the Development of a New Tokuyama Station Building" (Attachment) announced on November 18, 2013. We are pleased to announce that the contractors for the basic design and detailed design of the (tentative name) New Tokuyama Station Building have been selected as follows.
Regarding the concept of the (tentative name) Shintokuyama Station Building, which will be centered around a library facility, we are conducting surveys and other activities to further concretize it. Based on the three concepts outlined in the basic development plan - "A place of hospitality for visitors to the town," "A place for people who live in the town," and "A place for interaction and the bustle of the town where people can gather and enjoy themselves" - we are planning a floor layout that evokes the encounters and gatherings, as well as departures and new beginnings, that are typical of a station building. We are considering facilities such as a cafe that will be a "gathering place where communication can take place," which is highly requested by residents, and a library that will be a collection of knowledge where "a new identity can be discovered," as well as a complex that will include a bookstore.
Going forward, we will continue to work to make the (tentative name) Shintokuyama Station Building a "city platform that enriches the lives of residents."

Based on the "Basic Concept for the Development of a New Station Building (Draft)" submitted by the Tokuyama Station Area Design Committee and taking into account the opinions of Shunan citizens and the city council, the "Basic Concept for the Development of a New Tokuyama Station Building" was formulated on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.
The new Tokuyama Station building is based on the concept of being "a place of hospitality for visitors to the town," "a place for people who live in the town," and "a place of activity and interaction where people can gather and enjoy the town."
The complex will be centered around a library that utilizes private sector know-how and operates in conjunction with study spaces and a cafe, and will also have functions such as an observation area, rest areas, waiting areas, and other communication spaces, spaces for local information, administrative services, and tourist information, as well as commercial facilities and a police station, in order to improve public services and revitalize the city center.
*Details of the basic plan can be found on the Shunan City website.
