Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd.'s Entertainment Business Division reopened TSUTAYA TOKYO ROPPONGI on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, marking the end of its 10th anniversary year, after a complete renovation. The new store offers unprecedented sales proposals for books, movies, and music, as well as concierge services, as a new type of TSUTAYA lifestyle offering.
The space has been newly designed to be a place where people can meet and connect with each other. We have set up a new "BOOK & CAFE" style book sales area, centered around a Starbucks with an island-style 360-degree open counter. The book section is categorized by six "verbs that describe actions" that correspond to the life cycle of consumers: "travel," "work," "dress up," "eat," "live," and "play."It is not a "bookstore" where you go to buy the books you want in advance, but a place where you come to discover a lifestyle, where you can find all kinds of "hints" and "opportunities" big and small that will make each of your "actions" more enjoyable, more personal, and full of surprises and discoveries.
The second floor will feature a book section with a theme of "gifts," as well as sections offering suggestions on how to enjoy "movies" and "music."In pursuit of the essence of movie selection and discovering a good film, instead of the usual arrangement of foreign films, Japanese films, or action films, dramas, etc. that is common at traditional TSUTAYA stores, the concierges will make suggestions from a variety of unique perspectives that value the sense and sensibility of choosing a film, based on the major themes of "love," "life," "men and women," and "time."In addition to a CD section for each era, the music section will not only sell CDs, but will also stock speakers selected under the theme of "enjoying music in a stylish and free way."
In an age where anything can be obtained online via smartphones and PCs, the new TSUTAYA begins with TSUTAYA TOKYO ROPPONGI, which considers reasons to visit a store and pursues the values that only a physical store can offer, such as encounters, communication, and comfort.
