-A literary award for original novels that make hit movie producers want to adapt them into films-
The Japan Entertainment Novel Award is jointly sponsored by Culture Convenience Club, Nippon Broadcasting System, and Linda Publishers with the aim of discovering new writers who can create inspiring ``original novels for movies'' with overwhelming entertainment value, ideas, and unexpected story developments.
In the first competition, there were many submissions from newcomers and works that impressed the judges, with some saying, "We've found a work like this" and others saying, "We've found a newcomer like this." One Grand Prize winner and two Excellence Prize winners were published last year. The second competition received 208 works that were just as impressive as the previous one.
Going forward, the three sponsoring companies, together with the second chief judge, Mr. Osamu Kubota, will conduct a rigorous screening process leading up to the announcement of the Grand Prize on August 1st. When announcing the Grand Prize winner, we will also announce the names of the works and the winners of the second and third rounds of judging.
