-New music for adults introduced and CD rental sales expanded-
Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. Kyushu Company (Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture; Company President: Shinichiro Kamaura) is reopening its flagship store in the Kyushu area, TSUTAYA Tenjin Ekimae Fukuoka Building Store, today, Wednesday, March 26th, in order to create new customer value ahead of other TSUTAYA stores nationwide.
■ New books for second-hand book users, including the latest and most popular titles / New option for book selection: "price"
The highlight of the renovation will be the merging of the large second-floor second-hand book section "ecobooks" with a new book section, creating one of the largest BOOK&CAFEs in Japan, measuring 1320 square meters (400 tsubo), and offering a mix of new and used books. We will be introducing a new, unprecedented display that allows you to choose both used and new books from the same shelf, so that used book shoppers will be able to easily choose new books, such as the latest releases from their favorite authors or works that have not previously been available in the used book section. We will also make it possible for brick-and-mortar bookstores to offer new ways of selecting books, such as choosing new or used books based on price, which is common in online bookstores.
In addition, with this renewal, the number of used books in stock has been increased by approximately 1.3 times, from 180,000 to 240,000, and the number of new books has been increased from 60,000 to 80,000, giving customers a wider selection of both used and new books than ever before.
■ Opened a new music section for adults and expanded the music rental section
The music section on the third floor has a listening space and DJ booth where music lovers can relax and enjoy music. In particular, the store is expanding its lineup of genres that are popular at Daikanyama TSUTAYA Bookstore in Tokyo, which opened as an adult TSUTAYA aimed at the baby boomer generation, such as rock and pop from the 1960s to 1980s. The sales floor area will also be expanded by 1.2 times to 150 tsubo, and the store will offer music suggestions for adults, with sales areas categorized by age and genre, and a special corner that follows music trends.
