In line with Fukuoka City's (Mayor: Takashima Soichiro) initiative to "create a startup city," Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masuda Muneaki; hereinafter referred to as CCC) Kyushu Company will operate a startup cafe that will serve as a base for creating a startup city at TSUTAYA BOOK STORE TENJIN, opening on October 11, 2014.

This is a concept to create a startup hub that brings together citizens and enriches the city by providing a place where people who want to start a startup or support startups can easily gather and interact in order to broaden the scope of entrepreneurship (startups). In order to operate the Startup Cafe as a startup hub of great value to the city's residents, Fukuoka City selected a contractor through a proposal and consultation process, and decided to entrust the project to CCC.

The startup cafe operated by TSUTAYA BOOK STORE TENJIN is located on the third floor and will propose new ways of working surrounded by knowledge from 26,000 business books and stationery that will help you turn your ideas into reality. Furthermore, rather than limiting TSUTAYA's know-how to product introductions, we have assigned coordinators who can utilize the know-how to introduce people and companies, and are available to answer any questions you may have.

The store boasts the fifth highest sales of business books among all TSUTAYA stores nationwide, and as there is a strong tendency for interest in "working" within Japan, the store will take this opportunity to further provide customers with what they want and expand the base of startups by providing a casual and convenient space. CCC will provide support for entrepreneurial development in a way that is unique to Fukuoka City, which has been certified as a "special zone for entrepreneurship," and will help turn it into a global startup city.
