Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masuda Muneaki) has opened its 10th TSUTAYA store in Taiwan, "TSUTAYA Yai Ying Ying Tienmu Dong Dien," which opened today on September 26, 2014.
TSUTAYA's store openings in Taiwan began as part of a strategic business alliance between CCC and Taiwan's CMC Group (Central Group), with the opening of the TSUTAYA Yai Ying Ying Minchuan Dien on December 27, 2012. Since then, the company has expanded to seven stores in Taipei and its surrounding areas, two in Taichung, and one in Kaohsiung.
TSUTAYA Art Film mainly handles the rental and sale of DVDs and Blu-rays, and by utilizing know-how gained in Japan to create sales areas and implement product proposals, sales of older titles that have been available for rental for more than a year have increased significantly.
TSUTAYA Asia Art Film Tianmu East Store, the 10th store to open in Taiwan, is located in the Tianmu area of Taipei, which is home to many foreign residents, including Japanese people. The store stocks 1,500 Japanese titles that have been specially selected based on regional characteristics and database marketing.
As CCC expands its business globally, it will continue to expand its business through a business model that combines the online and offline worlds, just as it does in Japan. Going forward, we will continue to renovate and open new stores as usual, and also plan to open large-scale complex stores, expanding the opportunities for people to experience excitement and joy through entertainment in the Asian market.

■About CCC/TSUTAYA's business expansion in Taiwan
The opening of TSUTAYA stores in Taiwan is part of a business partnership between CCC and Taiwan's CMC Group (Central China Group). A-Gi International Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the CMC Group (Central Group) that operates Taiwan's largest video package rental and sales chain, A-Gi Movies, has joined TSUTAYA, renovated its stores, and is expanding its operations.
In February of this year, the company launched the online home delivery rental service "TSUTAYA Asia1 Film Rental Network" (http://rental.asia1.com.tw/). Utilizing CCC's know-how in Japan, the company has been working to renew its existing online home delivery rental service, Asia1 Film Rental Network, and expand its inventory. This has resulted in a steady increase in fixed-rate users and an increase in membership.
In addition to operating TSUTAYA stores, CCC also operates a comprehensive entertainment business, from content procurement to distribution, including film distribution and DVD sales under the Culture Publishers label.
Going forward, CCC and the CMC Group will also work together in the field of content procurement, leveraging TSUTAYA, one of Asia's largest entertainment chains, to provide video content through content distribution and copyright businesses in the film industries of Japan, Taiwan, and China, and to expand their product offerings through database marketing that leverages TSUTAYA's know-how, thereby providing people with opportunities to encounter even more video content and books.
