Culture Convenience Club TSUTAYA Company, which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, is collaborating with the Mainichi Film Awards to hold votes for the "TSUTAYA Film Fan Awards," in which film fans can choose the most "moving" and "interesting" Japanese and foreign films released in Japan this year to determine the No. 1. The awards are available on smartphones, PCs, and mobile phones via a special website (http://tsutaya.jp/eigafan2014/) from Tuesday, November 11, 2014 until the end of the day on Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
This award is open to the general public and is voted for by TSUTAYA, which provides movies to countless movie fans, including renting over 700 million DVDs a year. Last year, "The Wind Rises" was selected in the Japanese film category and "Ted" in the foreign film category.
The TSUTAYA Movie Fan Award is the only award in the Mainichi Film Awards that is decided by public votes, and this marks the 9th time the TSUTAYA Movie Fan Award has been held.
