TSUTAYA Co., Ltd., which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, will compile and analyze its own big data and announce the results for each category as the TSUTAYA Annual Rankings.
All 20 places in the annual ranking of Asian TV dramas were occupied by Korean TV dramas, with seven of those titles being TSUTAYA's private brand titles. This year, it is notable that a work that is not a romantic comedy took first place. "I Miss You" became a much-loved film, attracting attention for the tearful performances of Park Yoochun, who is now highly regarded as an actor, and Yoon Eun-hye, the actress known as the queen of romantic comedies. Among foreign TV dramas, Gossip Girl, which was popular among women, is now in its final season, making it into the rankings for the second season. This year's rankings are notable for the new, powerful dramas with strong messages, replacing the easily watchable series that consist of one episode. "Under the Dome," based on a Stephen King novel, which was available for advance rental at TSUTAYA, followed suit and was ranked number one among foreign TV dramas this year as a highly entertaining drama.
