Top Partners Inc. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi), a wholly owned subsidiary of Culture Entertainment Inc. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi), has established CHRONICLE BOOKS JAPAN Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazuo Nakanishi) together with the American publisher CHRONICLE BOOKS LLC (Head Office: San Francisco, California, USA; President and CEO: Jack Jensen) on April 1, 2015, and will begin the business of exclusively selling books, stationery, gifts, etc. from CHRONICLE BOOKS LLC and its affiliated companies in Japan.

CHRONICLE BOOKS LLC was founded in 1967 as the publishing division of the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper, and is a publisher with a long history and tradition representing the West Coast of the United States. Since its founding, the company has not been bound by conventional wisdom in the American publishing industry, but has instead added its own unique ideas to planning and bookbinding, establishing itself as a new trend leader.

Over its half-century history, the company has published numerous titles in the fields of illustration, design gifts, art, architecture, photography, food, lifestyle, pop culture, and children's books, and is now widely known in the United States as an innovative publisher unlike any other.

Additionally, CHRONICLE BOOKS LLC has earned high praise for its employee employment environment, including being the only publisher to be selected as one of the "50 Best Workplaces in America."Of the company's more than 200 employees, 75% are women, and this talented staff produces over 200 book titles and over 100 stationery and gift items annually, which are sold not only in the United States but also around the world.

The new company, CHRONICLE BOOKS JAPAN Co., Ltd. will import, produce, and sell books from CHRONICLE BOOKS LLC, including pop art and lifestyle-themed books, as well as cookbooks, children's books, and other foreign and Japanese books (※), stationery, gifts, and more. The new company also plans to open a micro-bookstore directly operated by the new company in Tokyo.

*The Japanese book will be sold by Tokuma Shoten Co., Ltd.
