CCC Marketing Inc. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda; hereinafter referred to as "CCC Marketing"), a CCC Group company engaged in database marketing, and Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda; hereinafter referred to as "CCC") are pleased to announce that starting today, they will be publishing regularly on the TPI website (http://www.cccmk.co.jp/tpi/) a new price index that utilizes T-Point data, as part of a joint project with the Watanabe Tsutomu Laboratory at the Graduate School of Economics, The University of Tokyo.

The TPI is an index compiled based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which is known as an economic thermometer that indicates economic trends, and is based on purchase price data accumulated daily through T-Point partner companies across Japan. Specifically, this price index was derived by aggregating, tabulating, and analyzing purchase amounts obtained from T-Card purchasing data, which is used by 53.93 million people across Japan (number of members after name matching as of the end of May 2015) and has related sales of over 5 trillion yen*2, which accounts for approximately 2%*1 of Japan's total consumption.

As a first step, we will publish three indices - "TPI," "TPI Supermarket," and "TPI Drugstore" - based on approximately 50,000 products and 160 items handled by T-Point partner supermarkets and drugstores, broken down by gender (male/female) and age group (20-39, 40-59, 60-79). Going forward, we will expand the scope of T Point partner stores (convenience stores, etc.) that will be used as the basis for calculating TPI at the end of September and December, and will also implement more detailed updates and calculation dates and times. We also plan to develop user services using TPI.

CCC Marketing hopes to continue contributing to Japanese society as part of its cultural infrastructure by giving back to society the data from the T Cards that you use every day.
