●25.2% of respondents answered that their summer bonuses had increased this year. 18.5% of people answered "decreased"
By occupation, 40.0% of civil servants said their salary had increased, while 26.7% of full-time and contract employees said their salary had increased.
Summer sales have begun at department stores, specialty shops, etc., and bonuses will be paid to civil servants on June 30th. It has been reported that the average salary for administrative positions excluding management positions is approximately 619,900 yen, which is the third consecutive year of increase. Meanwhile, many private companies will be paying bonuses on June 10th or July 10th, and there is growing interest in the status of bonuses this summer and how they will be spent. In this context, in this T Survey, we asked 1,500 men and women aged 18 to 69 about their summer bonuses this year.
First, we asked those who received a summer bonus this year themselves or in their family whether the amount of this year's bonus had increased or decreased compared to last year's bonus. 25.2% of respondents answered "it had increased," 46.4% answered "it had remained the same," and 18.5% answered "it had decreased," indicating that there were more people who answered "it had increased" than "it had decreased."Looking at the respondents by occupation, 40.0% of civil servants answered that their income had increased, while only 11.7% answered that their income had decreased. Among full-time and contract employees, 26.7% answered that their bonuses had increased, down 13.3 points compared to civil servants, while 19.7% answered that their bonuses had decreased, up 8 points compared to civil servants, resulting in a difference in the increase or decrease in summer bonuses this year between civil servants and private companies.
●The desired bonus amount for full-time employees, contract employees, and civil servants is 832,000 yen. How much will your summer bonus be this year?
The top earners for civil servants are "500,000 yen to less than 750,000 yen" and "300,000 yen to less than 500,000 yen."
The top two categories for full-time and contract employees are "300,000 to less than 500,000 yen" and "less than 200,000 yen."
Next, when asked about the amount of this summer's bonus, the most common answers were "300,000 yen or more but less than 500,000 yen" (19.5%), "less than 200,000 yen" (16.8%), and "500,000 yen or more but less than 750,000 yen" (14.9%). By occupation, as reported, the average salary for civil servants is approximately 619,900 yen, and the top earners for civil servants were "500,000 yen to less than 750,000 yen" at 36.5%, 21.6 points higher than the overall average, followed by "300,000 yen to less than 500,000 yen" at 30.2%. For full-time and contract employees, the top three were "300,000 to 500,000 yen" (20.6%) and "less than 200,000 yen" (17.2%), and just like the increase or decrease, there was a difference in the actual amount paid between public servants and private companies. When asked about their desired bonus amount, the average desired amount for full-time employees, contract employees, and civil servants was 832,000 yen. Comparing actual pay amounts with desired pay amounts, among those who answered that they have received or plan to receive a summer bonus this year, those whose actual pay amount was between 200,000 and 300,000 yen had an average desired amount of 479,000 yen, those whose actual pay amount was between 300,000 and 500,000 yen had an average desired amount of 669,000 yen, and those whose actual pay amount was between 500,000 and 750,000 yen had an average desired amount of 898,000 yen. If we take the average between each payment amount, we find that people want a bonus that is 200,000 to 300,000 yen more than their actual payment amount.
●What do you plan to spend your summer bonus on?
1st place: "Savings" (61.4%), 2nd place: "Supplementing living expenses" (26.5%), 3rd place: "Domestic travel expenses" (22.3%)
