Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masuda Muneaki; hereinafter referred to as CCC) and Tsumiki Co., Ltd. (Head office: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Suzuki Takayuki; hereinafter referred to as Tsumiki), which operates Filmarks, one of Japan's largest movie review services, have entered into a business partnership and will begin collaborating by utilizing CCC's business infrastructure, which includes the CCC Group's TSUTAYA stores nationwide, the online home delivery rental service TSUTAYA DISCAS, and the video streaming service TSUTAYA TV. Tsumiki, which operates "Filmarks," is a winner of the TSUTAYA Award in the first phase of the "T-VENTURE PROGRAM (TVP)," a partnership and support program for venture companies run by the CCC Group. For the second phase of the TVP, information sessions will be held in Tokyo on Friday, August 28th, followed by Sapporo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, and applications from venture companies will be accepted until October 2nd.
As a concrete collaborative initiative, Tsumiki has added "New Release Rental Information" to the search menu of its movie review service "Filmarks" website and smartphone app, and has begun collaborating with the online home delivery rental service "TSUTAYA DISCAS."Additionally, the "rental start date" is displayed for new rental movies. For users who have Clipped! (wanted to watch) a movie, we will provide push notifications (iOS app only) of the rental start date, which has long been a popular request from users. The two companies will work together to provide a comprehensive service that not only provides information on films currently in theaters and before their theatrical release, but also includes rental information on packaged films on Filmarks.
Starting today, we have added a feature to the film title page on Filmarks that displays rental inventory information at TSUTAYA stores. In the future, we will aim to create a user-participation platform that combines the real world and the internet, by offering a selection of movies in stores that make use of movie reviews, and will also develop a service that allows users to conveniently rent the movies they want to watch.
Filmarks will further strengthen its ties with TSUTAYA, which has more than 1,400 stores nationwide, the online delivery service TSUTAYA DISCAS, and the online distribution service TSUTAYA TV. By utilizing database marketing of approximately 54 million T members, Filmarks will develop into a fun service that allows movie fans to access movie information anytime, anywhere and can be used conveniently whenever they want to watch movies, aiming to provide users with the opportunity to discover great films and a better movie experience.
