TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda; hereinafter referred to as "TSUTAYA") is expanding its "TSUTAYA Business College" which has been well received since 2007, and will launch a new line that enhances DVD sales, publishing, and comprehensive production of business seminars. The "TSUTAYA Business College Collection," a large-scale business seminar featuring popular business book authors, including business executives, investors, and entrepreneurs active both in Japan and overseas, will begin on September 23rd.
TSUTAYA Business College has proposed events at Daikanyama TSUTAYA Bookstore and TSUTAYA TOKYO ROPPONGI as a casual learning space, and events featuring popular brain surgeon Kitahara Shigemi, who is featured in business books, educator Takahama Masanobu, and James Skinner, who is scheduled to be invited this time, were a great success, with the stores selling out. In addition, he has been involved in the overall production of more than 30 books, and has planned and produced a total of over 350 DVDs containing seminars.
The new line announced this time offers seminars by lecturers that are usually expensive and difficult to attend due to high competition, but at a lower price and on a larger scale so that young people, the next generation of business people, can also participate. Additionally, TSUTAYA store events will continue to be held across the country, offering seminars at low cost or free of charge (※1) as an opportunity for first-time participants to try them out.
The first event will be a lecture for approximately 1,200 people at Tiara Hall (Koto-ku, Tokyo) featuring James Skinner, the popular management consultant who introduced the international best-selling book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" to Japan, which has sold a total of 30 million copies worldwide and 2 million copies in Japan. Upcoming lecturers include Akio Shibata, director of the film "Creating the Happiest Employee in Japan," which is being independently screened at 600 venues nationwide, as well as popular business book authors.
TSUTAYA will utilize the cultural infrastructure of the CCC Group to introduce books and DVDs to prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs active both in Japan and overseas, in order to pass on practical skills and know-how that are useful in society, and will also propose the space as a place for communication through events and seminars.
(※1) Purchase of the designated product is required to participate in the event. Participating products vary depending on the instructor.
