The autumnal equinox is fast approaching. After the autumnal equinox, the nights begin to get longer and longer, and the season begins to feel more like autumn. The first half of this summer saw scorching heat waves throughout Japan, with days upon days of intense heat, but the second half saw a sudden change, with heavy rain and chilly days. With autumn approaching, this T Survey surveyed T members aged 18 to 69 on the topic of "autumn fatigue."
Recently, we have been hearing the term "autumn fatigue," which is said to be a condition in which symptoms similar to summer fatigue appear even in autumn. When asked whether they think they will suffer from autumn fatigue this autumn, 24.1% of people overall answered that they "will probably suffer from quite a lot of autumn fatigue" or "will probably suffer from some autumn fatigue." Looking at the results by gender, 19.9% of men answered that they "will probably suffer from quite a lot of autumn fatigue" or "will probably suffer from some autumn fatigue," while the percentage of women who answered that they "will probably suffer from quite a lot of autumn fatigue" or "will probably suffer from some autumn fatigue" was significantly higher than men, at 28.2%. When the results were broken down by gender and age group, the highest percentage of people who answered "I think I'll feel quite tired in the fall" or "I think I'll feel a little tired in the fall" were women in their teens and twenties at 31.3%, while the lowest percentage of people who answered "I think I'll feel quite tired in the fall" or "I think I'll feel a little tired in the fall" were men in their teens and twenties at 17.7%. On the other hand, when comparing those who have experienced summer fatigue with those who have not, 55.9% of those who answered "I have not experienced summer fatigue" also answered "I do not think I will experience autumn fatigue."The results show that if you can maintain good physical condition even during the scorching summer heat, you are less likely to suffer from autumn fatigue.

Next, respondents were asked to select whether there was anything they wanted to do/are currently doing to avoid autumn fatigue. The most common answers, in order of popularity, were "take a bath" (22.6%), "avoid cold drinks as much as possible" (19.5%), "adjust clothing (wear long sleeves, etc.)" (15.0%), "go for a walk" (13.3%), and "first get over summer fatigue" (13.1%). Looking at the results by gender and age group, the most notable countermeasures against autumn fatigue were "walking" for men in their 50s and 60s, at 26.7%, 13.4 points higher than the average, and "adjusting with clothing (wearing long sleeves, etc.)" for women in their teens and 20s, at 27.3%, 12.3 points higher than the average. The results showed that each age group had distinctive ways of working without forcing themselves in their daily lives. On the other hand, 45.8% of men in their 30s and 40s answered that they have "nothing in particular" to prevent autumn fatigue, which is 8.8 points higher than the average. Although men in their 30s and 40s were the most likely to respond that they "might suffer from autumn fatigue" out of all age groups, the results show that they have no plans to take any particular measures to prevent it.
