-First store opens in Hirakata, Osaka, the birthplace of TSUTAYA-

FamilyMart Co., Ltd. (Head office: Toshima-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Isamu Nakayama / hereinafter referred to as "FamilyMart") and TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda / hereinafter referred to as "TSUTAYA"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda) which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, have entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement to develop new business formats, such as opening integrated stores, with the aim of increasing customer value for both FamilyMart and TSUTAYA.
The first store under this agreement will open at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015, in Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture, where TSUTAYA was founded.

Aiming to open 100 stores in the next three years, the company will develop integrated stores combining TSUTAYA and FamilyMart.

FamilyMart and TSUTAYA have now entered into a comprehensive agreement to develop new business formats that will make effective use of each other's management resources, know-how, and brands, with the aim of strengthening the business foundations of both companies. This will create a system for the development of integrated stores with FamilyMart at TSUTAYA directly managed stores and TSUTAYA stores nationwide operated by franchise chain member companies. Going forward, we will work with TSUTAYA and TSUTAYA franchise chain member companies to consider expanding our business throughout Japan, with the goal of opening 100 stores over the next three years.

The first store opens in Hirakata City, Osaka Prefecture, the birthplace of TSUTAYA.

The first store to open under this comprehensive partnership, FamilyMart TSUTAYA Nagao Store, will be a remodeled version of the existing TSUTAYA Nagao Store, integrating a TSUTAYA area selling and renting videos and music, as well as books and magazines, with a convenience store area. There are no partitions between the two areas, so customers can move freely between them, and there is also a cash register counter. The FamilyMart space will have a wide selection of products, including the usual ready-to-eat items and freshly ground coffee "FAMIMA CAFE," as well as ice cream and sweets, to enhance its affinity with TSUTAYA stores. It will also have an eat-in space (six seats) that can be used for breaks, etc. Additionally, the TSUTAYA space has been integrated with the FamilyMart store, while retaining the same items and inventory. Furthermore, we have expanded our opening hours to 24 hours to make it even more convenient for our customers.

Both FamilyMart and TSUTAYA are alliance companies of T-Point, one of Japan's largest mutual point services, and provide convenience to customers. Going forward, we will continue to accelerate the opening of new store formats that combine entertainment and convenience stores, going beyond the boundaries of the T Point Alliance, and will contribute to further improving convenience for our customers by enabling our more than 55 million T Members to use our services in a variety of everyday situations.
