TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, has been expanding its services, "Airbook" and "TSUTAYA Digital Benefits," as new reading experiences that combine paper and digital books, through a strategic business partnership with BookLive Co., Ltd. since last year.

Airbook, which launched in December 2014, has recorded a 5.6% increase in sales of target magazines compared to the industry average since its launch. In addition, Airbook service users have been showing positive feedback from customers, with monthly store visits twice as frequent and purchases three times as many books as non-users.

In an effort to further enhance the service, the new Airbook will be launched on Saturday, December 5th, and will include 21 books from the newly relaunched "SB Shinsho" series. By expanding the service to include paperbacks, which are popular among business people, we aim to create new value in reading, allowing people to enjoy reading electronically on their commute and in paper form at home.
In addition, 31 new magazines will be added from Tuesday, December 1st, expanding the service to a total of 162 magazines. This time, 11 new publishers have been added, and Gakken Plus, one of the new publishers, has added five magazines, including the popular men's information magazine "Get Navi," and has also added many titles to its lineup in hobby categories such as cars and motorcycles, sports, and cameras, allowing it to cater to a wider range of needs.

"TSUTAYA Digital Bonus" will be a campaign where those who purchase products eligible for the fair at the "KADOKAWA x TSUTAYA Original Bunko Fair" scheduled to begin on Friday, January 1st will receive a "special photo set of Hashimoto Kanna, the lead actress in the film "Sailor Suit and Machine Gun - Graduation", and an electronic version of a TSUTAYA-exclusive original short story and illustrations for "Yurakucho Haunted Candy Shop" (author: Aotsuki Kairi)."We will continue to expand the number of eligible items, genres, and bonus content, so please stay tuned.

TSUTAYA will utilize its database of approximately 800 bookstores nationwide to provide a space where customers can enjoy the texture and encounter of books that can only be found in a physical bookstore, while also aiming to revitalize the entire industry by creating new reading value through Airbook, which allows customers to experience the portability and convenience of digital versions, and digital benefits that allow customers to enjoy books even more.

[What is the Airbook service?]
With this service, when you present your T-Card and purchase a book at any participating TSUTAYA store nationwide (*1), the digital version of the book you purchased will be automatically downloaded and you can enjoy it for free. The digital version is provided through BookLive!, so you will need to register and link your Yahoo! JAPAN ID (T-Card number registration) and BookLive! membership the first time only.
