TSUTAYA Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / President and CEO: Masuda Muneaki / hereinafter referred to as "TSUTAYA") has launched a campaign on Friday, December 11, 2015, in which 1 million people will receive a gift of Kakikome brand rice if they write a comment of support for their favorite movie, music, book, or comic.

In this campaign, if you write a comment of support for the work or artist called "Kakikome" and bring it to a store, the first 1 million people will receive a free TSUTAYA brand rice "Kakikome" (packaged cooked rice). In addition, any supportive comments you write, known as "kakikome," will be displayed in the store. This is TSUTAYA's first customer participation campaign, allowing customers to share their passion with other customers in the store and serving as a tool for communication with staff. During the period, each store will be holding a variety of events and projects to liven up the campaign with their own unique and distinctive hospitality. Through this campaign, TSUTAYA aims to create stores that serve as "real social media" venues where each store can communicate and share their excitement with customers.

As the finale of its 15th anniversary event, SHIBUYA TSUTAYA held a grand "Kakikome" raffle on December 12th (Sat) and 13th (Sun). Prizes perfect for accompanying the "Kakikome" included tsukudani (simmered food in soy sauce) and edible chili oil. Over the two days, more than 2,000 people participated, and more than 1,000 "supportive comments" were collected.
In addition, there is an eat-in corner on the 6th floor where you can eat Kakikome on the spot. You can sample the food in an area equipped with SHIBUYA TSUTAYA original chopsticks and a microwave.

Report on the in-store live performance and handshake event of "The Okawari Sisters" to commemorate the launch of the "Kakikome" campaign at TSUTAYA Yokohama Minato Mirai store

To commemorate the start of this campaign, The Okawari Sisters, born from the hugely popular TOKYO MX program "Goji ni Muchuu," were invited to TSUTAYA Yokohama Minato Mirai store from 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 13th, to perform an in-store live performance of "Kakikome Okawari" and hold a handshake event.

The concert was also a triumphant return to Yokohama, the hometown of both Wakabayashi and the program producer, and Wakabayashi greeted the audience by saying, "I was born and raised in Yokohama, and I love Yokohama!"

Nearly 200 fans gathered for this event, some of whom even took an overnight bus from Kyoto to attend. The passionate talk and live performance captured the hearts of customers who were hearing about The Okawari Sisters for the first time. And at the long-awaited handshake event, some people bought several Maxi copies of The Okawari Sisters' "Koi wa Okawari" and wrote numerous supportive comments. The two were delighted by the fans who shook their hands and asked for more Kakikome rice. We received a lot of passionate supportive comments.

The Okawari Sisters, a group of around 40 people from "5ji ni Muchuu" Profile of The Okawari Sisters

The Okawari Sisters are a unique unit consisting of commentator Wakabayashi Fumie and assistant announcer Naito Satoko, who appear on the information program "5ji ni Muchuu" broadcast live on Tokyo Metropolitan Television (TOKYO MX), as "satoko" and "fumie" respectively, and the program's host Fukawatari Ryo, who acts as "Rocket Man," and is responsible for the overall production of lyrics, composition, concept, etc. Wakabayashi is 37 years old and known as a beautiful trader. He appears as a Monday commentator on "5ji ni Muchuu."On the other hand, Naito is a 40-year-old freelance caster. After serving as Miss Happoen, she is currently appearing as a regular assistant on the show from Monday to Thursday.

A large-scale tasting event for the truly delicious TSUTAYA "Kakikome" rice at TSUTAYA Kawasaki Station

On December 24th, TSUTAYA Kawasaki Ekimae will be holding a tasting event for Kakikome near the store. For side dishes, we also offer "Yamaya Mentaiko" from the online shopping site Yokamon Market.
