- Tsutaya Bookstore expresses and conveys the beauty of Japanese culture and Japan both domestically and internationally -

Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda; hereinafter referred to as CCC) has opened a new Tsutaya Bookstore in Okazaki, Kyoto City, called "Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya Bookstore," which will showcase the charms of Japanese culture both domestically and internationally.

With the number of foreign visitors to Kyoto increasing by 162% compared to last year, Tsutaya Bookstore aims to be a place that expresses and conveys Japanese culture and the wonders of Japan both domestically and internationally. The new store features a BOOK & CAFE with the themes of "Art," "Japanese Life," and "ON JAPAN (conveying the latest Japanese trends)," as well as Kyoto Modern Terrace, a restaurant where you can enjoy the makers' passion and the latest Kyoto cuisine.

1) Kyoto's first Tsutaya bookstore
The beloved Kyoto Kaikan, which was built in 1960 based on a design by leading Japanese architect Kunio Maekawa, will be reopening as the ROHM Theatre Kyoto, preserving its historic appearance while adding modern features. Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya Bookstore is located in one corner of this theater. Combining a carefully selected collection of books, a relaxing cafe, and a restaurant, we offer a time and space unique to Okazaki, Kyoto.

2) This is a lifestyle-focused Tsutaya bookstore, following stores in Daikanyama, Hakodate, Shonan, Umeda, and Urawa.

3) The three genres of "Art," "Japanese Lifestyle," and "ON JAPAN" are arranged in small rooms, and a dedicated concierge will guide you through the world of 26,000 books. We will also propose fair stands to coincide with events in the surrounding area and at the hall.

4) Based on the concept of "Connecting through Japanese craftsmanship," we will promote traditional craftsmanship from Okazaki, Kyoto. The store is committed to using locally produced products, and sources traditional Kyoto crafts and other items from 22 locations. (There are approximately 250 items available).

5) At Starbucks, craftsmen apply silver leaf one piece at a time to the counters, creating a tasteful design.
The cafe has 41 seats inside and 132 seats on the terrace.

6) The restaurant on the second floor, Kyoto Modern Terrace, is operated by Style Development Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Cafe Company and CCC. This cafe and restaurant allows you to enjoy the seasonal scenery and ingredients unique to Kyoto from morning until night.

7) You can enjoy the art displayed throughout the store. The work just inside the entrance is by foil artist Takuro Noguchi. The wall of Starbucks Coffee features a work by Masunaga Kozueko. Both pieces were commissioned as original works for the shop, based on the Rinpa painting of Kyoto in and around Kyoto.

8) For the first time at Tsutaya Bookstore, we offer electric assist bicycle rentals. We offer a comfortable journey that allows you to experience the scent of the four seasons on high-end electrically assisted bicycles such as the original bicycle "Hill Cheater" developed exclusively by electrically assisted bicycle specialty store "Motovelo", as well as the BESV PS1 and YAMAHA PAS kiss. There are 14 units.

9) To accommodate inbound tourists, we plan to install an automatic foreign currency exchange machine inside the store. Service starting soon. You can exchange foreign currencies from approximately 20 countries yourself.

10) On the 3rd floor of the Park Plaza Lobby at ROHM Theatre Kyoto, there is a "BOOK & ART GALLERIA" produced by Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya Bookstore. We create an attractive lobby with books selected by Kyoto celebrities that are updated monthly.
