- Japanese Film Category: "The Curtain Rises" Foreign Film Category: "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" -

TSUTAYA Co., Ltd., which operates TSUTAYA stores nationwide, is a special sponsor of the Mainichi Film Awards, which are celebrating their 70th anniversary this year, and held a vote for the ``TSUTAYA Movie Fan Award,'' the only award open to the general public.This year's winners have now been decided, and we are pleased to announce the results of the vote. This year, from November 10th to December 20th, 2015, we accepted votes for "the film released in 2015 that movie fans found most moving and entertaining."Out of 12,582 valid votes, "The Curtain Rises" received an overwhelming 1,348 votes in the Japanese Film category, and "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" received 306 votes in the Foreign Film category, and were selected as the winners of the TSUTAYA Movie Fan Awards 2015.
The two first place winners will be honored at the 70th Mainichi Film Awards Awards Ceremony to be held on February 16, 2016. Additionally, we are accepting donations for 30 pairs of 60 people to attend the awards ceremony until January 27th on the following website.

In the Japanese film category, "The Curtain Rises," which was popular with men and women of all ages from their 20s to 60s, took the top spot overall. In the gender rankings, men came in first and women came in second. There is also a making-of video titled "Before the curtain rises.""Their Summer Challenge" also received strong support, ranking 16th overall. Meanwhile, "Living with Mother" came in second place overall, taking first place among teenagers and second place among those in their 20s to 60s. By gender, the top choice for men was "The Curtain Rises," while the top choice for women was "Living with Mother."

In the foreign film category, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, which won first place overall, came in first or second among people in their teens to sixties, attracting attention from people of all ages. "Mad Max: Fury Road," which came in second overall, was especially popular among men, coming in first in the men's rankings. Also, following the top three studio films, coming in fourth overall was "Whiplash," which won three Academy Awards last year, and was the number one film among people in their 30s.  
Along with the announcement of the Mainichi Film Awards winners and their award-winning works, we are also announcing the top 20 rankings for the "TSUTAYA Movie Fan Awards" in the "Japanese Films" and "Foreign Films" categories on the following website.  

The PDF also includes film reviews and overall ratings for the top five films in each category by TSUTAYA movie buffs who watch hundreds of films a year and the MDs in charge of foreign, Japanese, and Asian films.
