This "Reprint Produced Paperbacks" project is a "reprint project" in which "expert book connoisseur" bookstore staff at TSUTAYA stores across the country carefully select "paperbacks that we truly recommend right now" from among paperbacks that are already out of print, with the aim of bringing high-quality books back into the hands of customers.
The "Reprint Project" began in July 2015, and TSUTAYA bookstore staff from across the country recommended 110 out-of-print books. The book that came out on top in the romance category of "Really Recommended Paperbacks Now" was the miraculous love story that transcends time and space, "Until I Met September's Love" (Futabasha).

To commemorate the first reissue, TSUTAYA will be promoting this work as a recommended title in stores nationwide from the 9th, and will also be running a campaign offering 5x T-Points.

A word from Rikiya Kurimata (TSUTAYA Sangenjaya bookstore staff), producer of the first reissue

The appeal of this project is that it gives readers the opportunity to encounter truly interesting works that they would not otherwise encounter. Also, I think it will be great to be able to deliver to many people works that have been buried despite their high quality content due to various factors. The reason I chose "Until I Met September's Love" this time is because it is a time mystery and romance novel that meets the needs of current readers, and it is a work that leaves you with a wonderful feeling after reading it. Recent romance mysteries have become too focused on psychological content, losing their original meaning as stories, so I think this will be a valuable opportunity for readers to read a romance novel that is highly complete as a story.

Test titles and results for reprints: October 2013 - May 2015

Prior to this project, TSUTAYA, led by Rikiya Kurimata, republished the following 11 titles on a trial basis between December 2013 and May 2015. Although it is said that it is difficult to reprint new works by famous authors, the titles were a success, with nine of them being reprinted. Among them, "Donden-gaeshi" (Futaba Bunko) was an exceptional hit, with 11 printings and 90,000 copies sold, and "The Age of Cannibalism" sold at the Yurakucho store, selling over 1,400 copies in one store. The response was greater than expected, leading to the expansion beyond individual stores and to the current nationwide expansion.

Test titles and results of reprints

*The release date of "The Age of Cannibalism" is the first release date at the Yurakucho store.

The "Reprint Produced Paperbacks" project has decided to reprint books in April, June, and August, and thereafter plans are in place to distribute approximately 12 reprinted books per year at TSUTAYA stores nationwide. With this "Reprint Produced Bunko" project as a starting point, we will further strengthen our efforts to create a store where "you can find interesting books when you visit TSUTAYA."Going forward, this will be a regional project in which TSUTAYA bookstore staff from all over the country will discover and promote new encounters with high-quality books, with the aim of revitalizing the paperback market, creating new added value for bookstores, and proposing lifestyle ideas.
