Airbnb Japan Inc. (Headquarters: San Francisco, California, USA; Japanese name: Airbnb, hereinafter referred to as "Airbnb") and Culture Convenience Club Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Muneaki Masuda, hereinafter referred to as "CCC") have entered into a marketing partnership agreement to promote and expand home-sharing services in Japan.
Background and overview of the partnership agreement
Airbnb, a leading home-sharing platform with the concept of "Travel like you live," aims to revolutionize the way people travel. The vision of CCC, a planning company that "proposes new lifestyles," resonates with each other, leading to the signing of this partnership agreement. Going forward, the two companies will utilize CCC's marketing capabilities to raise awareness of "Japanese-style home sharing" and work to ensure that the benefits of home sharing are realized in more areas across the country.
With the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan rapidly increasing these days, home sharing will also have a positive effect on the economies of local areas that have previously lacked hotels and other accommodation facilities. Currently, roughly three-quarters of Airbnb listings globally are located in areas that are not traditionally tourist destinations. Not only can tourists enjoy the same lifestyle experiences as locals in the local area, but local shops and businesses can also expect economic benefits from the increase in tourists.
The two companies plan to undertake the following projects in 2016, leveraging CCC's diverse platforms.
●A special website will be launched on May 27th to raise awareness of the jointly produced "Japanese-style home sharing" (URL: http://tsite.jp/airbnb)
● Promotions will be held at Daikanyama T-SITE from May 27th and at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA from May 31st, using the entire store.
Marketing activities utilizing CCC's online and offline media

In the medium to long term, Airbnb and CCC will work together to develop new content and services aimed at establishing and popularizing "Japanese-style home sharing," and will contribute to revitalizing local economies by spreading diverse lifestyles across the country.
